Kentucky agency settles discrimination suit against Nationwide

Nationwide Insurance Companies has agreed to establish a loan program for home purchases and repairs, hire an additional African-American insurance agent in Lexington and pay $30,000 in legal fees and costs to settle a lawsuit filed by the Lexington Fair Housing Council. The lawsuit alleged that Nationwide agents were engaged in a pattern or practice of racial discrimination in the sale of homeownersÂ’ insurance policies in Lexington.
